Tour Plan

Day 01 Cusco – Cloud Forest – Paucartambo- Pilcopata Lodge

We pick you up from your hotel very early in the morning, between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., in our comfortable private bus. On the way, we visit the pre-Inca funerary towers, or Chullpas de Ninamarca, located at 3,750 meters above sea level. Afterward, we make a brief visit to Paucartambo, a beautifully folkloric colonial town with a historic bridge.

Next, we ascend to the highest area of Paucartambo, the Acjanaco sector (4,000 m.a.s.l.), which serves as the official entry point to Manu National Park. From here, we descend through the mysterious cloud forest, home to an incredible variety of flora and fauna, including beautiful orchids, heliconias, and primitive ferns.

We will take a walk for a chance to witness the spectacular mating ritual of the Cock-of-the-Rock (Rupicola peruviana). There are also great opportunities to spot Trogons (Trogon sp.), Quetzals (Pharomachrus sp.), and much more. If we are lucky, we might even spot the elusive Spectacled Bear (Tremarctos ornatus).

In the afternoon, we arrive at the village of Pilcopata (550 m.a.s.l.). We will spend the night at our typical jungle lodge, located just outside the town, which features comfortable rooms with private bathrooms and showers.

Day 2 Pilcopata Lodge – Puerto Atalaya - Machu Wasi Lake - Paititi Lodge

After a delicious breakfast, we continue our journey by bus for about 45 minutes to the port of Atalaya, located at an altitude of 490 m.a.s.l. Here, we embark on a 30-minute motorized boat ride to Paititi Lodge, where we will spend the night. Our authentic jungle lodge offers comfortable rooms equipped with private bathrooms and showers. Along the river, we will have plenty of opportunities to spot local wildlife.

After a fresh lunch at the lodge, we will head to Machuwasi Lake (Cocha Machuwasi) in the afternoon. Here, we will ride a traditional raft or catamaran to observe an incredible variety of birds, such as the prehistoric Shansho or Hoatzin (Opisthocomus hoazin), as well as monkeys, reptiles, caimans, insects, and with some luck, capybaras (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris).

In the evening, we offer an optional night trekking program to explore the jungle after dark. We then return to spend the night at our lodge, with private bathrooms and showers available.

Day 3 Parrot Clay Lick – Lake Maravilla

Deep Jungle Exploration: Medicinal Plants & Hidden Oxbow Lakes

After a hearty breakfast, we prepare to delve even deeper into the heart of the Amazon. Today’s expedition combines ancient rainforest secrets with stunning wildlife encounters.

  • Inca & Native Medicinal Plants Tour: Walk beneath the giant emerald canopy not just to spot exotic flora, but to discover the living pharmacy of the Amazon. Your expert naturalist guide will show you various species of medicinal plants used for centuries by local native communities to cure ailments.

  • Midday Relaxation: Return to the lodge for a fresh lunch. Enjoy some free time to take a refreshing dip in the pristine river or simply unwind on the lodge’s hammocks surrounded by jungle sounds.

  • Machuwasi Lake Raft Navigation: In the afternoon, we head to Cocha Machuwasi for a traditional wooden raft navigation. Paddling silently across the calm waters is the absolute best way to track wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for prehistoric hoatzin birds (shanshos), caimans, capybaras, and monkeys. If you are incredibly lucky, you might even spot a Jaguar drinking at the water's edge.

  • Dinner & Optional Night Hike: Return to the lodge for a delicious dinner. Afterward, join our optional night trek to experience the jungle's nocturnal symphony and spot spiders, tarantulas, and glowing insects.

Day 4 Paititi Lodge – Atalaya Port – Cusco
  • Final River Navigation: After a delicious jungle breakfast, we board our boat for a final scenic cruise upstream, traveling from Paititi Lodge back to Atalaya Port. Take this last chance to spot river birds and capybaras along the banks.

  • The Cloud Forest Scenic Drive: At the port, our comfortable private bus will be waiting to start our journey back to Cusco. We will wind our way back up through the majestic heights of the mysterious cloud forest, enjoying stunning panoramic views of the Andes.

  • Arrival in Cusco: We will arrive back in the imperial city of Cusco between 7:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., dropping you off near the city center so you can head straight to your hotel or enjoy a farewell dinner.
