FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Welcome to the Vista1travel tours FAQ page

1. Planning & Bookings

Due to high demand and strictly limited government permits, we recommend booking 4 to 6 months in advance. For other day tours or alternative treks like Salkantay, 2 to 3 weeks is usually sufficient.

It is mandatory to carry your physical Original Passport. If you booked with a student discount, you must also carry your valid original university ID card.

Yes! Our mountain chefs are experts at accommodating vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary restrictions. Please let us know your requirements at the time of booking.

Yes, we highly recommend carrying Peruvian Soles in cash for tips, snacks, bottled water, souvenirs, or restroom fees along the route.

2. Altitude & Health

Our guides are certified in first aid and always carry oxygen tanks. We recommend arriving in Cusco 2 days early, staying hydrated, and drinking coca tea to help your body adjust.

Both are considered moderate-to-high difficulty due to the elevation (over 4,200 masl / 13,700 ft). Proper acclimatization in Cusco for at least 48 hours is required to enjoy these hikes safely.

For trips to the Amazon, the Yellow Fever vaccination is highly recommended and should be administered at least 10 days before your arrival in the jungle.

3. Machu Picchu & Trekking

The Inca Trail (4 days) is a historical route focused on ancient ruins and stone paths. The Salkantay Trek (5 days) is a scenic, high-altitude adventure featuring glaciers and lakes—it is the best alternative if Inca Trail permits are sold out.

This is our most budget-friendly option. We travel by bus from Cusco to the Hydroelectric station and then enjoy a scenic 3-hour flat hike to the town of Aguas Calientes.

You should bring broken-in trekking boots, thermal layers, a waterproof jacket, a headlamp, and a 30L daypack. Trekking poles are highly recommended and can be rented from us.

4. Jungle & Adventure Tours

Pack lightweight, long-sleeved clothing (to protect from mosquitoes), a powerful insect repellent, a hat, binoculars, and a dry bag for your electronics.

Absolutely. At Vista1travel, we prioritize safety by using certified professional guides and high-quality safety equipment, including helmets and life jackets that meet international standards.

5. General Destination Info

The dry season (April to October) offers clear skies and sunny days, which is perfect for photography. The rainy season (November to March) is beautiful for those who prefer lush green landscapes and fewer crowds.

We are local experts based in Cusco. We provide personalized service, fair wages for our porters and staff, and a deep commitment to making your Andean adventure safe and unforgettable.

In Cusco city and the Sacred Valley, Wi-Fi and 4G coverage are excellent. However, during remote treks (like Salkantay or the Inca Trail) and deep in the Amazon (Manu), signal is very limited or non-existent. We recommend informing your family that you will be «off the grid» for those days.

While major hotels and restaurants in the city center accept credit cards and US Dollars, smaller shops, markets, and rural villages only accept Peruvian Soles in cash. We recommend exchanging some currency upon arrival for your personal expenses.

Most tourist sites and shops are open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Restaurants often stay open later. Please note that on Sundays, some local businesses might close early, though major tourist attractions remain open every day of the year.
