Upon your arrival at the airport, our representative will welcome you and provide private transport to your hotel. We recommend resting and enjoying a traditional, warm cup of coca tea to smoothly acclimatize to the altitude. At 13:00, your professional guide will meet you to begin the classic Cusco City Tour. You will first explore the magnificent Cusco Cathedral, home to priceless colonial artwork from the Cusqueña School. Next, you will discover the Qoricancha (Coricancha) Temple of the Sun, the absolute pinnacle of Inka religious architecture. The journey continues just outside the city to explore the monumental megalithic stone walls of the Sacsayhuaman Fortress—the official stage for the legendary Inti Raymi (Festival of the Sun)—followed by visits to the mystical shrines of Q'enqo, the strategic outpost of Puka Pukara, and the sacred water fountains of Tambomachay. After a deeply rewarding immersion into Inca history, we will drive you back safely to your hotel.
To arrive to the lake Sandoval, we will have to walk 3 Km. (muddy in the wet season) in one hour approximately and we will arrive at a small port, where we will take a rowing canoe, and after half hour of rowing we will arrive at the port of the Maloka Sandoval Lodge. When we will arrive to the lodge we will have a hot welcome with a flavorful typical juice, and after a brief explanation above the lodge, you will be lodging in a comfortable room. After a rest, equipped with a flashlight or headlight we will take a night walk in the forest to go in search of the night monkey (Musmuqui), frogs, snakes and insects that are active during the night. Return to the Lodge to has dinner and spend the night.
Your journey begins at 08:00 with a pickup from your Cusco hotel (please ensure you have your passports and Tourist Ticket (Boleto Turístico) ready). We will drive into the breathtaking Urubamba valley, arriving first at the majestic Pisac Inca Citadel. Here, your expert guide will lead you through a stunning complex of ancient temples, mountain residences, agricultural terraces, and the legendary Intihuatana (the hitching post of the sun). Next, we will travel along the riverbank to Urubamba to enjoy a delicious, traditional buffet lunch.
Following a short drive, you will explore the colossal Ollantaytambo Fortress, marveling at the perfectly carved and polished monolithic stones within the Sun Temple. After discovering the living Inca town of Ollantaytambo, you will board the afternoon expedition train at 16:36, enjoying a spectacular scenic rail journey through the changing landscape. By 18:15, you will arrive in Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town), where our staff will escort you directly to your hotel for an evening of relaxation before your big day tomorrow.
An early morning breakfast at your hotel prepares you for the highlight of your Peruvian adventure. We will head to the bus station to board the shuttle ascending the winding mountain road to the world-renowned Machu Picchu Inca Citadel. Upon entry, you will embark on a premium 2-hour guided tour through the masterfully planned sectors of the sanctuary: the terraced agricultural area, the sprawling urban quarters, and the sacred Temple zone, featuring the Temple of the Sun and the enigmatic Intihuatana sundial.
Following this comprehensive historical immersion, you will comfortably exit the archaeological site according to official regulations. You will then take the shuttle bus back down to Aguas Calientes, where you can enjoy a relaxed lunch and explore the local artisan markets. At 14:30, you will board your return expedition train heading to Ollantaytambo, where our private tourist van awaits to drive you smoothly back to your hotel in Cusco.
Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup between 04:30 and 05:00 for an unforgettable Rainbow Mountain Hike. We will drive through the stunning South Valley to the town of Cusipata, where a hearty, freshly prepared breakfast awaits. Following breakfast, a scenic 1-hour drive brings us to the trailhead, the starting point of our high-altitude trek. From here, you will embark on a rewarding 1.5-hour hike through striking alpine meadows, surrounded by grazing alpacas and soaring Andean peaks.
Upon reaching the spectacular Vinicunca Pass (5,036 m / 16,522 ft), you will be rewarded with jaw-dropping, panoramic views of the vibrant, multi-colored mineral ridges of the Rainbow Mountain. We will spend approximately 45 minutes at the summit—perfect for capturing iconic photographs and soaking in the majestic views of the sacred Mount Ausangate. Afterward, we will hike back down to the starting point and board our private transport back to Cusipata for a well-deserved buffet lunch. This full-day Cusco excursion concludes with a smooth drive back to the city, arriving at your hotel around 17:00.
